Update!!! Lostworlds email is now available...
A VERY SERIOUSLY REAL Problem: Please read this!!!
North Carolina should not ignore 'legal, moral' responsibility to provide HIV testing, treatment to inmates
Although some civil rights groups that are "pressing" the North Carolina Legislature to pass a bill that would mandate
HIV testing for prison inmates might be overstating HIV prevalence in prisons, their "point shouldn't be missed" because the
"fact is, consensual and forced sex behind bars ... helps spread the disease," a Raleigh News & Observer editorial says.
According to the editorial, "few" inmates in North Carolina participate in the state's voluntary HIV testing program, but
"most inmates eventually get out of prison" and can transmit the virus to "unsuspecting" people. In addition, surveys have
found that "ex-inmates are spreading the virus at an alarming rate among women," the editorial says. The "cost of testing
and treatment," estimated to be about $21 million annually, "seems to be a main reason why North Carolina has declined" to
implement a mandatory testing program for inmates, the editorial says, adding that "from a public policy standpoint, the approach
is counterproductive."
The state covers the cost of treatment for most HIV-positive people and can either "address the problem in prisons now"
by mandating HIV testing and "stem the spread of new cases by treating inmates," or "it can pay later," the News &
Observer says. The editorial adds that the state "shouldn't ignore its legal and moral responsibility" to provide treatment
to HIV-positive inmates. Although "[w]ell-run prisons" are "one front against" the spread of HIV, mandatory HIV testing "needs
to be part of the state's public health strategy, in light of both budgetary prudence and the duty to take reasonable care"
of inmates, the editorial concludes (Raleigh News & Observer, 4/17).
We created this site to help families, and children, and to help make the transaction a bit smoother
for those who are about to go to Prison. We know about the Lexington Women's prison because we have had some family and friends
go to this prison. We know how hard it is on everyone involved with this process. So we wanted to help others about to go
through or whom are already going through this process. It helps to have someone to lean on. we want to help you all we can.
We aren't in anyway an offical of any kind. We give you information as we have already had to go
through getting information. It helps you get it faster basically. Helps learn the rules and regulations before hand, what
goes on in the prison, and helps by also providing information that comes from inside the prison by sharing their stories
as they send them here. We do not agree or disagree with anyone's story. We hope to not get a lot of bashing on here.
I know this prison has a lot of flaws . They do have more than some of the other's so I am sure we will get a lot of complaints
here. One of our goals is helping other's to stay out of jail or prison, or any other place to where you don't want to go.
We want to help those that is in prison to get the help they need to stay away from their as well. This site also helps you
learn about Lexington NC. Not just the prison. If you need information about any other prison in NC you are welcome to email
us with that as well. Or if you have been in one of the other prisons, or know someone who has that would like to share their

Inmate My Case Story....CLick here
One of the many horrible things you have to deal with
in this place.. Ex... Strip search, Small enclosed spaces, No privacy, caged in like an animal ,You can't come and
go as you please, you eat what they serve, their isn't a McD's in this joint. This is what you can look forward too in Jail
but worse cases are in Prison.. Both stink.. Don't do the crime if you hate to do the time.... Hope this will stop others
from going down that road..
